2014 Thanksgiving Turkey Day Traditions

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is just around the corner with enough food to stuff your face for weeks. We look forward to turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, and finally pumpkin and apple pie with whip cream. Millions of dishes are prepared during Thanksgiving Day and Grove City Summit is no different. As much as we love cooking food, our favorite part is sitting down at the table and enjoying a meal with the ones closest to us.

Apart from food, many traditions today include football and party games. In old harvest festivals, people usually celebrated with games and sports, so you could argue that the football tradition and traditional games have very deep roots.

American football is one of the many traditions in American culture that is associated with turkey day. As football is becoming more popular, more games are now being played on Thanksgiving Day with virtually every level of football, from amateur and high school to college and the NFL. Sit around the T.V. with your family, or go to your nephew’s football game and watch to cheer on your favorite team.

Traditional games have also been known to circulate from year-to-year in many holiday households. Thanksgiving bingo, card games, large party games, the top turkey artist and many other simple games are a blast with a large gathering. A good idea to spice up this Thanksgiving is to research and find your next holiday tradition to start. Lets skip the research and get straight to the meat and potatoes (turkey and mashed potatoes of course).

Below are our top 4 Thanksgiving Turkey Day Traditions for 2014:

Thanksgiving Bingo

This is not your average bingo. FlavorWire brings this version of bingo to you with a creative twist on the game. Click here to see all 4 bingo cards and to print them off.

Card Games

Any and all card games are welcome! Our favorite card games include euchre, spades, hearts, Texas hold ‘em, poker, blackjack, and finally, go fish. Find out what games your family finds to be fun and start playing.

Large Party Games

At Grove City Summit one of our favorite large party games is Left Right Center. You can pick this game up just about any grocery or home goods store for under $10. The object of the game is to roll the dice to decide if your tokens (we use quarters 🙂 ) go to the person to the left, right or in the center pot. Click here to see Left Right Center on Amazon.

Top Turkey Artist

This is one of our favorites because it is a game to have fun and joke around with your friends and family. Object of this game is very simple, with your eyes closed, or with a blindfold, set a 2 minute-timer and see who can draw the best Thanksgiving turkey. You will be amazed to see how many look like a plate of stuffing.

From everyone at Grove City Summit, we wish you a very special day and an even better turkey day! If you are looking to rent apartments in Grove City, Grove City Summit is one call or email away, contact us today.
